Every good marketing plan includes a sales funnel. The sales funnel is how you convert potential clients into paying clients and paying clients into invested and committed clients – fans of your work and your business. It’s the step-by-step process utilized to create awareness, education, trial, adoption, and finally sharing of your business/product/program/service. You have to consciously take those prospects by the hand and walk them through the journey.
Even now, as a highly paid expert, I still utilize a marketing funnel to help build connections with clients. Not everyone has the resources – or the need – to work with you in a one-on-one model within your business, so not everyone will end up at the bottom end of your funnel. If done correctly, only the most qualified will find themselves there.
Below, you’ll see an example of my business funnel from a few years ago. It gives you an example of the program/product/services offered at each level as well as the purpose, cost and client involvement.
You really need to get clear on the purpose for each step so that you can set up your marketing to reflect that direction.
Take a few minutes and review your own sales funnel – perhaps it’s time to revise it.
